Lakewood, March 06, 2025 — The Colorado Department of Revenue’s (CDOR) efforts to improve customer service through innovation are being noticed globally.
The department proudly announces that Chief Strategy Officer Michael Arrington was recently recognized by the Public Sector Network as one of the Global Top 50 Government Innovators of 2024, as a leader driving innovation and customer-focused transformation.
Arrington, who leads CDOR's Innovation, Strategy, and Delivery (ISD) division, was one of only 14 U.S. residents recognized. He was honored for his work and leadership on innovative efforts, including bringing Mobile Colorado ID (mDL) to the hundreds of thousands of Coloradans so each can have the secure international digital identity standard at their fingertips; enabling a payment option that leverages crypto (Bitcoin / Ethereum) for residents to utilize when paying online Tax and DMV bills; and focusing on leveraging data to transform information and processes to improve the services DOR offers.
“To be recognized by Public Sector Network and Patrick Joy as a Global Top 50 Government Innovator for 2024 is truly amazing and the result of so many hardworking, passionate Colorado proud colleagues,” Arrington said. “It is such a privilege to work at the Colorado Department of Revenue and with such fantastic leaders; the last four years have genuinely been my honor.”
Public Sector Network said Arrington brings a creative approach to technology by emphasizing efficiency, design and partnership.
Arrington emphasizes using data to make decisions and to support multi-year technology initiatives. These are key for aligning the department's divisions with its long-term goals. These initiatives define the roles of people, processes, policies, and systems. They also help the department get ready for future challenges and industry trends.
Arrington joined CDOR in 2021 and has led efforts across the CDOR to support Taxation, DMV, Specialized Business Groups, and Lottery.
